October 4, 2012 – Elder Abuse Luncheon: “The Best I Know How to Do” – 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM. Hope House in partnership with the Faith Leaders for Healthy Relationships committee is offering luncheon workshop on intervening elder abuse. The workshop will be held at the Garden Party in Baraboo. It will cover red flags that a caregiver is abusing, neglecting, and/or exploiting older individuals and give practical tips for responding appropriately. October 27, 2012 – HALLOWEEN BOO FEST - 4:00 – 10:00 PM. All the ghouls and goblins can rest easy this trick or treating season, as local businesses and community groups join forces to create a brand new spectacular Halloween event that will give everyone a good scare, provide a safe and fun event and help raise funds for local charities and non profits! The International Clown Hall of Fame and Research Center will be hosting a classic “SpookHouse Spectacular” at 115 3rd Avenue (Between Recycled Sally’s and Sauk County Abstract & Title) in downtown Baraboo on Saturday October 27, 2012.  In addition, UW-Baraboo/Sauk County will be digging up their most decaying undead with their annual “Nobody Should be Hungry” Zombie walk to benefit the Baraboo Food Pantry. Zombie make-up classes will be held between 4 and 5pm at the Village Booksmith, the actual Zombie Walk takes place at 5:00pm on the sidewalks around the Square and the Thriller Dance happens at 6:00pm on the Courthouse Square. For the littlest monsters in our family, Halloween games and activities are planned for the lawn of the Courthouse from 3:30 to 5:00pm. Baraboo Tours will be conducting special walking Ghostly Tours on the hour and the Al Ringling Theater will cap the evening off with a classic horror film at 9pm. October 27, 2012 – Halloween Mystery Candlelight Hike – 6:00 – 8:00 PM. The Friends of Mirror Lake and Mirror Lake State Park will be hosting our annual Halloween Mystery Candlelight Hike. We will have an easy 1 mile torch lit trail to hike. This family friendly event asks kids of all ages to help the Rangers figure out who our mystery guest is with clue stations along the way. Then join us at the Discovery Station along the way to meet our guest. The Friends will have food and beverages available for purchase and bonfires to relax by.
