June 8, 2012- Fundraiser for Emily Diehl -The mission trip, ‘The World Race’ is supported through the nonprofit company called Adventures in Missions AIM, we go to 11 countries in 11 months. A squad of about 50-60 racers (aged 21-35) will be divided into small teams and partnered with local Christian organizations to work and serve with them for the month. June 13- 17, 2012 Circus Model Builders Convention & Show, 9am- 6pm. In 1935, “Billboard”—an entertainment industry publication, ran an article about the “Backstein Miniature Circus,” which was the world’s largest complete, half-inch-scale circus model. Charlie Bennet was one of thousands who read the article, but he was also a builder of miniature circus wagons. Charlie wrote to Bert Backstein and together they formed a hobby club where other circus model builders could exchange information and ides. Today there are more than 900 members of the Circus Model Builders Inc. located in the U. S., Canada, and other countries. Several miniature circus creations will be on exhibit for all to see. June 27, 2012 Concert in the Park-Swing Crew, 6:30- 8:30pm. The Swing Crew plays classic rock, country, pop, swing, “island beat” and about any other genre you could possibly come up with. The best thing about going to see The Swing Crew perform is that it’s not like seeing your average “bar band”, the quality of the music and the crazyness of their antics will keep you entertained throughout the show. Carleen Wild and Dan Smith are best known to southern Wisconsin television audiences and it’s in the hallway of a TV station where they discovered they shared a love of country music. After talking about swapping songs for a couple of years, they finally sat down around the kitchen table and began playing them. Soon, they took to the bandstand to share their favorite songs with others: Some old, some new, some original all mixed with a healthy dose of humor. The Boys & Girls Club of Dane County creative and performing arts program’s mission is to inspire and enable Club members to realize and develop their talents and skills. The Black Star Drum Line is a combination of the top drummers from the D.R.U.M.Program (Diversity, Respect, Unity, Music). Black Star Drum Line members learn advanced rudiments, techniques, and movement, along with the group’s famous Hip Hop style “street beats.” Drum line members range in ages from 8-16 years old and are directed by two time Grammy nominated drummer, Joey B.
