Angelia, You and the people in the nursing home are faced with a serious situation. I can't give you legal advice, but would suggest seeking the help of an attorney. It is good that you are removing yourself from the mold exposure. Hopefully the owners of the building will find a way to remove the mold soon. There are laws in each state that protect workers from these types of hazards and it would be worth checking into. All the best of luck to you.

I am a nurse, I work at a nursing home/rehabilitation center. The building is filled with black mold, the roof is a flat roof, a very old building. Us nurses are getting severe allergies, asthma, nausea, sinus infections, I personally feel like I have chronic fatigue syndrom, I'm always tired, no matter how much sleep I get, I work out 3-4 days a week, eat a healthy diet, I thought that it would make me feel better, now I just want to sleep a lot. I've worked there for 3 and a half years. I also have a lot of patients that often have pneumonia, bronchitis, I even had a patient die of lung cancer, that was sent out for a GI bleed, and came back saying he had 3 weeks to live because he had full blown lung cancer, he had just recently been in the hospital with pneumonia, I know he had to have CXR done at the hospital, it looks like they would of picked up on it a few months prior if he had lung CA. This is really starting to upset me, that this mold could be affecting everyone there. The company is aware of it, they keep bleach and white spray paint around when the mold starts coming through the ceiling tiles, it also grows on the walls. The maintance man told me that it is everywhere. I need some advice on how to handle this matter. I do have plans of quitting after novemeber, but the allergies that we all suffer, and the patients suffering is horrible. Do I report them, get a lawyer, what do I do. Please Advise. Thanking you in advance. Sincerely, Angelia Dixon
