About us and the history of the Country Time Gazette
In January of 2010 my family and I decided it was time to expand our Country Time Gazette network. We wanted to be able to reach out to a wider, more global readership than what our more local print publication and current website could. We decided a Blog with some of our featured content was the best way to share the helpful information so many of our subscribers have looked forward to over the past seven years.
“Over the years we have published articles and helpful resources on a large variety of topics relating to green living and self-reliance. Early in 2003 we had recognized a need for practical information that would help people learn to live a more natural and sustainable lifestyle. We ran an organic farm and eco-center at the time and were in touch with local residents and visitors to our area in South-central Wisconsin on a daily basis. We shared and talked with people at farmer’s markets, roadside stands, at local events and during our day-to-day business and learned what was of concern and interest to those we met. And thus, the Country Time Gazette was born.”
Over the years The Country Time Gazette grew and evolved with the changing times and increased in popularity, due in large part to the content. We couldn’t afford a flashy, colored magazine at the start, color copy came later, along with a website presence. Published monthly and offered Free to residents and visitors it soon became the area’s most sought after green living guide.
“In a nutshell” we have covered topics such as:
- Organic Gardening (composting, natural pest control, attracting beneficial insects, sustainable landscaping, herb gardens, heirloom gardening & seed saving, greenhouse & container gardening, hobby farming, and more…)
- Green Energy (Energy efficiency, wind power, solar power, geothermal, back-up power systems, solar hot water, tankless water heaters, heating with outdoor wood furnaces, and more…)
- Home Improvement (Green building & remodeling, green cleaning & the non-toxic home, green resource guide and more…)
- Family and Parenting
- Natural Pet Care
- Health and Wellness
- Country Cooking & Healthy Recipes
- Fitness and Recreation (Fishing tips, practical fitness advice and more)
- Environmental News
- Green Living Tips
Though our printed edition also covered local events and entertainment, we realized that our new website and blog did not need to include these topics and should reflect information and articles, such as those listed above, that are more desirable to readers worldwide.
NOTE: New to our website and blog will be information about home business opportunities and network marketing online.
“In 2008 we realized the importance of having a back-up income stream when our area was hit with the worst flooding in 100 years. The economy here still hasn’t recovered and with the ever worsening world-wide recession, it may never be the same. Many of our local businesses have suffered and have cut back on expenses and how many they employ. This affected our business in a big way and motivated us to start looking for another home business opportunity.”

We found the best home business available for little start-up investment, that didn’t involve “selling” or stocking product, etc. The company was debt-free and had the track record that we were looking for that showed us they were stable and had credibility. Best of all, the products and services we could offer others were ones that they were already paying for and this would give us a chance to help them save money and possibly earn some extra money to help their family have a back-up plan too. If you don’t have a plan for your future retirement or what you would do if you lost your job or current level of income we encourage you to check out our home business opportunity page or visit our website and see if it might be something of interest to you.
“We love helping others become more self-reliant and hope you discover information here that is useful and will help you experience the best of country living. We wish you joy and happiness in your journey…”
Note from Sue: Please be patient since it takes time for me to add content to the current and upcoming pages to this site, as well as the blog. It is a busy time of year for me, tending gardens, caring for my family and numerous adopted animals, as well as with our network communications business.
There is much to share and this is a continuing work in progress… Thanks for your interest and patience. Bookmark our site and visit with us again soon!
